Holy Saturday is a day when the guards kept vigil at the tomb of Jesus. For us, it is a time of waiting for a personal encounter with the Risen Lord in Holy Communion and in eternity. St. Faustina recorded:
‘‘Today after Holy Communion, I heard this voice in my soul: “My daughter, be vigilant, for I shall come unexpectedly.” “O Jesus, You don’t want to tell me the hour that I am looking forward to with such longing.” “My daughter, for your own good you shall find out, but not now. Be vigilant.” (Diary 854).
The liturgy of Holy Saturday tells us of God’s great Love for man. In the Diary we read:
“My daughter, it is for the love of you that I have come down from Heaven, too; for the love of you I lived, for you I died, and for you I have created the heavens” (Diary 853).
What love one should have to be born, live and die for someone else.
O my Jesus, multiply my love so that I may live for You and look forward to meeting you in Holy Communion, as well as in eternity.
