„Mary is also the one who obtained mercy in a particular and exceptional way, as no other person has. At the same time, still in an exceptional way, she made possible with the sacrifice of her heart her own sharing in revealing God’s mercy. This sacrifice is intimately linked with the cross of her Son, at the foot of which she was to stand on Calvary. Her sacrifice is a unique sharing in the revelation of mercy, that is, a sharing in the absolute fidelity of God to His own love, to the covenant that He willed from eternity and that He entered into in time with man, with the people, with humanity; it is a sharing in that revelation that was definitively fulfilled through the cross“ (Dives in misericordia, 9).
Throughout her life, Mary was faithful to her FIAT which she gave at the moment of the Annunciation. Her YES to God meant: Let it be as You wish! She repeated her entrustment also when she stood at the cross of her Son. All the sufferings and hardships of her life and all her love she united with Jesus’ sacrifice for the salvation of the world. To participate in the revelation of mercy in the world is – like Mary – to put ourselves at God’s disposal and to offer Him – in union with Jesus – all that we live for the salvation of souls.
Do I pass on to Jesus at the beginning of each day what awaits me?
Am I able to say to God in my decisions – like Mary – “let it be done to me according to your word”?
What specifically do I want to offer to God for the salvation of souls next week?
”You shall unite your prayers, fasts, mortifications, works, and all your sufferings with My prayer, fasting, mortifications, work, and suffering; then they will be powerful in the eyes of My Father” (D. 531).
”Sweet Mother, unite my soul with Jesus, for only then will I be able to persevere in all the trials and tests; only in union with Jesus will my little offerings please God” (D. 915).
