“Christ, precisely as the crucified one, is the Word that does not pass away, and He is the one who stands at the door and knocks at the heart of every man, without restricting his freedom, but instead seeking to draw from this very freedom love…” (Dives in Misericordia, 8).
St. John wrote at the beginning of his Gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (Jn 1: 1-3). Jesus is the Word! He is the eternal Word, the Word that is omnipotent, that lasts forever and never passes away. He is the Word of mercy! It is God who “stands and knocks at the door of every human heart” … He stands and knocks at the door of your heart! He brings mercy, He bestows mercy and wants to release mercy from your heart!
Do you accept the Word into your heart—the Word who is the Merciful Jesus?
When you have questions about decisions you have made or what direction your life should go, do you seek for answers in the Word of God?
Do you allow God to release mercy from your heart by being faithful to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit in the little things of everyday life?
There is but one word that I always heed, one word which I always consider, that one thing is all to me, by it I live, with it I die, and that thing is the holy will of God. It is my daily nourishment; my entire soul hearkens unto what God wants; I always do whatever God wants of me… (D. 652).
I trust in You, O God, for Heaven and Earth shall pass, but Your word shall last forever (D. 23).
