Holiness is not achieved alone, so God puts people on our path who are a gift to us on this path and for whom we are also a gift. It was no different in the lives of Sister Faustina and Father Michał Sopoćko. They were united on earth by a common mission, for the fulfillment of which they needed each other.
In the Diary, we read how St. Faustina asked Jesus to entrust this mission to someone else, since she did not feel able to fulfill it well. However, Jesus promised her concrete help, which she received in Vilnius:
I recognised Father Sopoćko as the assistance God was sending. Before I came to Vilnius I met him in an inner vision. One day I saw him in our chapel between the altar and the confessional. Then I heard the voice in my soul: “Here is your visible assistance on Earth. He will help you do My will on Earth.” (Diary 53)
Today we can benefit from the fruits of their journey together, moreover – on the same day we can praise the Lord for their lives – remembering Sister Faustina’s name day and the 50th anniversary of Fr. Michał Sopoćko’s departure to the Father’s House.
