Last Christmas, Sr. Miriam Janiec sent Christmas greetings to the Holy Father Francis on behalf of the “Faustinum” Association. In response, he sent his greetings and apostolic blessing. Below we share the message we have received:
Vatican, 14 January 2021
Reverend Sister,
His Holiness Francis expresses his gratitude for the remembrance and greetings sent on the occasion of the feast of the Birth of Our Lord.
Every year, the incarnation of the Son of God brings new light and the breath of the Spirit to the present Church and the world; the words of the angel reminds us of this: Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you (cf. Lk 2:11). As a consequence of this saving event, we can be born anew and find strength in God to face every trial. In this time of pandemic, we especially need the power that comes from Christ. We also need each other, so as to give and receive support from each other in times of crisis. This is what is taught to us by the Holy Family who, as they served each other, survived deprivation and the real threat to life and health in Bethlehem. On the night of the birth of the Son of God, this word therefore comes back to us: “for” in order that we may live for others, just as He came to earth for my sake (cf. Homily, December 24, 2020).
May the Holy Family from Nazareth inspire us to step out toward others with a sacrificial love and with simplicity so that even today our brothers and sisters can hear the echo of Bethlehem’s message of peace. In this spirit, His Holiness gives you, as well as all the members of the Faustinum Association, his Apostolic Blessing for the New Year.
Sincerely in Christ,
Msgr. L. Roberto Cona
